Is there a fridge?
A fridge is not provided. If you would like refrigeration we recommend you bring a cool box as there are limited facilities at the campsite shop to refreeze blocks. Otherwise keep your coolbox out of the sun in the shade of the forest trees. You can cool your drinks in Lake Windermere and socialise with the wildlife by the edge of the lake.
Can I bring pets?
So sorry! We don’t allow pets in our Yurts.
Are the Yurts secure?
The Yurt door can be locked and you will be given a key. Whilst you are in a secluded corner of the camp site and are unlikely to be disturbed we advise you to keep valuables on you or locked in your car. We cannot assume responsibility for the loss or theft of your possessions.
What do I need to bring?
A sense of adventure and a pocket full of fun.. or practically speaking: a kit bag of clothes, canoes, kayaks, fishing kit, walking boots – kit for what ever activity you like doing. Oh and maybe some waterproofs (hopefully if you bring them you won’t need them)!
What should I leave at home?
Tent, Sleeping Bags, Cooking facilities, Cutlery. We have provided things like salt, pepper, spices, oil, tea and coffee, tea lights.
Weather
We have had an amazing spring so far, supposedly the 3rd driest on record! It’s probably best not to tempt fate hoping for an amazing summer.. But of course its probably best to check before you come!

Power
There is a 12volt supply for lighting as standard. For those of you who want to run a laptop, charge a mobile phone etc a second battery can be provided, it should power one for 6/8 hours but once this is up it’s back to the sounds of nature. This is an option upon request but not included as standard, although lets face it, you should really be taking it easy in the forest!
How do I cook?
Every Yurt has a gas double burner with toaster attachment for the hob. This is ample for many a hearty one or two pot wonder, with the toaster for toasted sandwiches, heating a naan for your curry or for making croutons to add to your soup. Delicious…
There is also a Jaffle iron on request, these are made for the campfire and make the best egg butty I have ever had. Maybe it’s because it comes from the fire it tastes so good or just that the properties of cast iron seem to cook food so much better?
As standard you will have all you need to cook including:
Frying Pan, saucepan, casserole pot, spatula, sharp knives including a bread knife, bottle opener, knives and forks, plates, bowls, cups, mugs and wine glasses, salt and pepper, oil and spices.
Where do I sleep?
For your comfort we have included sofa beds / futons, this gives you plenty of versatility both night and day. We provide freshly laundered sheets and bedding. The Yurts sleep four comfortably and there are Z beds or roll mats available on request.
What happens if I get wet?
The yurt has a very effective woodburner. You can hang clothes around this to dry them as required – but place these at a suitable distance so as not to ruin anything!
