We have just spent a long weekend in a yurt at Low. Wray to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. The two boys also booked on a full day introduction to bushcraft course with Alex. The yurt was brilliant, very cosy and well equipped. The complimentary wine was a nice touch. The course was excellent value for for money, very well presented and my son had the chance to teach his dad a thing or two about making fire (apparently!!). All very enjoyable and I got a day to myself. Idyllic spot and the Drunken Duck at Barngates is only a stone’s throw if you don’t feel like cooking. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back. Thanks Alex and Richard for your help in arranging everything.
We have just returned from our second trip to the Wild in Style yurts. We stayed in April earlier on this year and we were a little worried that we might be a little chilly this time. However, the yurt was so well insulated and the weather was so mild that we were actually warmer than during our earlier stay. The log burner creates such a wonderful atmosphere as well as quickly filling the yurt with heat.
My sister came this time and for that reason we booked the double yurt. This provided ample space for all of us. My sister had been a little sceptical to begin with about my talk of luxury camping but she was soon convinced by the super facilities. The double bed was so comfortable and to have a full size table to eat, play games on and complete jigsaws is a luxury which a normal camping trip just can’t provide. With so many interesting places nearby (we went to Hawkshead, Grizedale, Wray Castle and Beatrix Potter’s house) we just had so much fun.
The Lake District is really at its best in October with the most glorious colours and we were even fortunate enough to enjoy some Autumn sunshine.
Thanks again to Alex and Donna for providing such a high quality experience. We only live 30 minutes away, but it is just like a different world and we are now planning our third trip!
We rented two Yurts for a girls weekend away in September, and even in spite of constant (mostly heavy) rain we had a great time. The Yurts are lovely – very clean, very cosy and with every home comfort . The campsite is fab with great amenities and the camps are distant enough from each other to afford plenty of privacy. Glamping at it’s best – we will definitely be back. Thanks Alex!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We have just returned from a short two night break in the double yurt and had the most fantastic time. The yurts are wonderfully equipped with everything you could think of and then some and are so comfy and cosy! This was our first camping trip away with our sons aged 3 and 19 months and we chose a yurt so as to ease ourselves in gently….however we have been converted, I don’t think we will ever stay in a tent again!!
Despite high winds and lots of rain we were warm, dry and extremely comfortable. There is loads of room for the kids to play, both inside and out and the beds are spacious and comfortable. I particularly liked being able to put the kids to bed in the double yurt, and still have the whole yurt to ourselves for snuggling up with a bottle of wine in front of the fire.
Thank you for making everything so welcoming and we will most definately be back!!
Hi Alex,
Just wanted to say a big ‘Thank You’ for a most wonderful stay in the Yurts at Low Wray. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed this new and exciting experience and cannot wait to return. The site, Yurts and all on-site facilities were in excellent condition supported by warm, friendly and helpful staff. We cannot recommend this site highly enough.
I have just returned from a Monday to Friday break in a double Yurt with a US friend who doesn’t do camping, but has been converted. The weather was far from ideal but we were warm, dry and very comfortable in our Yurt and easily able to dry damp clothing in front of a real fire. Camp cooking took on a whole new meaning with meals such as Thai prawn curry, potato and sweetcorn soup, vegetable frittata to name but a few of the meals we cooked with fresh ingredients from local markets on the excellent cooking facilities. I cannot recommended Wild in Style enough and will certainly booking again. It was a great break.
We have just come back from a fabulous long weekend spent in the double yurt which was all we could have wished for. The yurt was wonderful, cosy, warm and well kited out. The beds are comfy and warm and the wood burning stove kept us as warm as toast after days spent larking about in a canoe on the lake. The kids didn’t want to come home and neither did we. Alex is so helpful kind and at hand to answer all manner of enquiries about your stay and the site at Low Wray is magical with great facilities; lovely play areas for the kids; well stocked shop; mobile catering van, dishing up fabulous breakies and evening meal and snacks and very friendly and helpful National Trust staff. We can’t wait to go back!
Just had three relaxing nights in the woods staying very warm and dry thanks to the woodburning stove. Went to sleep listening to the owls hooting. Great site in an amazing location, well stocked shop and friendly staff. I’d recommend it.
We have just had a beautiful week at Low Wray – a gorgeous camp site, right on the lake and also in the woods. We spent a week in the double yurt and it was fab – really spacious and comfortable and despite quite a bit of rain,we had a great week. The children (our 2 aged 5 and 6, and my nephew aged 10)loved the freedom of the site and the new play areas. it’s all the fun of camping without the cold and wet! Hurray for wood burning stoves. It’s our second holiday on a yurt and Alex and Don have put in lots of home comforts were just lovely. Hurray for wood burning stoves, coffee pots and comfy beds!
What a holiday, it rained! We loved it as we always do and a holiday in the lakes would not be the same without it. One small change and what a change it made, the yurt was great our daughter loved it as did we, a pod or a tent are great to stay in but the yurt is like your best friend when it rains and you have kids. There is plenty of room for all to enjoy and play if you don’t want to go out and in the evening there is the wood burner once lit the smell of the smoke wafting through the woodland is fantastic.
Our daughter loved exploring the woodland in the rain, feeding the swan off the bridge, fishing in the lake and getting as muddy as possible. She even thought the yurt was very cosy and enjoyed relaxing and playing in there.
What an experience we will be back but only for longer next time as 5 days wasn’t enough to do everything we wanted. Thank you Alex and Don
