Our Yurts

We build our Yurts and so we design luxury in…

When inside the yurt you will have everything that you need.. you will be on natures’ doorstep with your feet up by the fire.

We have made the yurts so that you can stand up at all parts therefore maximising space. We have included large windows that are both for gazing out of but can also be ‘opened’ a little to allow some air to flow through as when the wood burner is on full, it is sometimes a little too toasty! The yurts are made in 3 layers, an outer canvas, a mid layer of insulation and a inner lining layer which is of a soft cotton and complements the natural wooden frame..

We currently have 3 different designs of Yurts both individual in style and unique in the ambience they provide.

HAWTHORN – 16FT Yurt

16 foot yurt atmospheric shot with woodburner and glamping luxury by lake windermereThe ‘traditional’ Yurt, has steam bent walls and roof poles with an oak ring which has been bent to form the crown. This traditional style is viewed by some as a Yurt at its most beautiful. It is based on the styles that are predominantly used in Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan or Kazakhstan. All the wood has been locally coppiced and the techniques used are exactly those that are used in the yurts native land.. This yurt comfortably sleeps 4.

ROWAN – 18FT Yurt

OK, so bamboo is a grass but it has a tensile strength greater than steel!  This allows us to use it in a very different way - Whilst still very much a Yurt, the strength of the bamboo means there isn’t such a requirement for so much ‘wood’, this gives a very light and airy feel. This yurt comfortably sleeps 4/5.

BIRCH and OAK - Double Yurts

the inside of the alachigh yurt with the double bedroom in the backgroundOur Double Yurts are unique in a couple of ways..

Firstly they are of a slightly different design; the Alachaigh Yurt comes from Iran and makes for a very different ‘space’.

And secondly we have put 2 of them together! These are our largest yurts and have a small yurt, containing a double bed connected onto a larger living room yurt which can sleep 5/6.

What you will find in our yurts:

  • Wood burning stove.. with wood, we actively encourage fires – its good for the soul.
  • Raised wooden floors with tasteful rugs for ambience and comfort.
  • A fully equipped and functional kitchen, including a cast iron gas hob (no charge for gas) that gives off plenty of heat and means you aren’t waiting around for kettles to boil!
  • All kitchen utensils needed to whip up a lovely meal – and then to eat it..
  • 2 very comfortable bed settee / futon beds with freshly laundered linen for all beds including cotton sheets, pillows and winter duvets so there is no chance you will be cold.
  • Large central skylight – giving light during the day and then atmosphere at night
  • Electric lighting
  • Table and chairs so you don’t always need to use a settee..
