Think of your yurt as a home in the wilderness – here is your peaceful open-plan living space! The latest thing in Scandinavian interior design, and a comfortable and flexible family space.. As well as proper beds, you also have all bedding provided, as well as bedside tables for storing all your personal items and a wood burning stove to keep you warm on cold nights. We said a home away from home and we mean it!

To fend off the nights up here at Wild in Style, each yurt has its very own wood-burning stove, along with a basket of logs to keep you going (should you need, extra logs can be purchased from us). We also give you all the tools to get going; firelighters, matches and such.

As safety is also a priority for us, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in your yurt, as well as a fire extinguisher (you’re incredibly unlikely to need it, but will be grateful for it if you do!) Since we’re in the 21st century, solar powered USB charging points are included, and we even have board games.

Each of our yurts has a private outdoor area, for taking in the surrounding countryside and enjoying life down on the farm. A fire pit with benches and chairs makes for a beautiful evening under the stars and really makes the atmosphere perfect for relaxation. As far as comforts are concerned, we have fitted brand new eco-friendly compost toilets for the call of nature, as well as hot showers. Finishing off the comforts is your own field kitchen, complete with gas stove and sink, and roofed to protect from the elements. All the comforts of the indoors, outdoors.

Things to Remember

  • Cumbria is not known for its weather. While we don’t think a bit of rain means you can’t get out and enjoy things, it’s important to pack appropriately. Bring warm clothes (layers are perfect) as well as waterproofs and sturdy footwear. There’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing!
  • Don’t underestimate the fells. The mountains in the area are hardly tall by world standards, but the weather changes quickly and one fall can spell disaster. Take a map, dress appropriately and tell someone where you’re going. That said, so long as you’re sensible, there are walks nearby for all levels of fitness and ability.
  • Routes are plentiful, but do stick to rights of way and footpaths, especially when animals are present. Animals can be unpredictable, so keep dogs on leads on farmland. Also be aware that some landscapes and ecosystems can be fragile.
  • Please follow our directions as your sat nav will lead you astray!

Enjoy Your Stay With Us

While we don’t believe in “rules”, there are a few things to bear in mind when staying with us.

  • Wild in Style is a place for relaxation, so please no loud music or wild parties. Same goes for drugs.
  • We do what we can to be accessible, but remember this is the great outdoors and certain things may be difficult if you’re in a wheelchair or if walking is an issue. Please GET IN TOUCH and we will be happy to assist in any way we can.
  • Car Parking is about 200m from the yurts.
  • While walking and cycling in the area is fantastic for recreation, we are in a rural area and you will at very least need a car, motorbike or taxi to get here. Our nearest train station is Langwathby, so some adventurous types may wish to bring their bikes on the train.
  • Wild in Style is a working farm, so there are farm animals and (friendly) dogs wandering around. If you’re nervous around animals, please be aware.
  • Pets can be accommodated but please do let us know in advance. Dog washing facilities are available.
  • Most importantly – we want you to ENJOY your stay. We are always on hand to help with anything you need.
